Our Glassdoor rating: something we're pretty proud of

At Daemon, one of our guiding principles is to be an employer of choice. One of the ways we do this is with a genuine People First approach to everything we do. We strive to create an inclusive work environment that encourages people to be empowered and able to drive their own careers to ensure they can stay and grow alongside the business.

We work hard to build an amazing company culture that goes beyond socials and team lunches (although we’ve got plenty of those too!). We’re dedicated to supporting our team members in every way, from regular reward reviews to clearly outlined progression opportunities. There’s a reason we were placed in the top 100 mid-sized companies to work for in the UK.

We’re delighted that our efforts are also reflected in our Glassdoor reviews. Let’s take a look at just some of the elements of our company culture that helped us achieve great ratings.

Setting Daemonites up for success

At Daemon, we know how important progression opportunities are for our employees. We have a clear system for grading to help each team member track their career progression. This helps us uncover opportunities for training and development. We facilitate this in several ways:

  • All team members have a People Manager they work with to create a personal development plan
  • Team members have bi-monthly meetings with their People Manager to track and shape progression and skills growth, most other businesses will only do this once or twice a year
  • We provide different training, including AWS and IDEO
  • We have courses, like our Leading and Influencing course, open to everyone
  • Our ‘lunch and learn’ sessions bring together people from the tech community to share ideas

Our focus on career progression for our employees ensures everyone is receiving fair pay and opportunities for promotion.

“Progression is based on a clearly defined framework which makes promotion a simple and transparent process. Some good benefits include bonuses for completing certifications (the cost of which are covered by the company) and health insurance.”

Encouraging autonomy

Ensuring every Daemonite is supported in their personal goals is important. We think it’s equally important to give each individual the autonomy to work the way that suits them best. We believe that this is key to driving change within the business. We hire our employees for their knowledge and expertise and trust them to do their jobs. This works so well at Daemon because our North Star Ambitions keep everyone united behind a shared vision.

“If you are looking to join an organisation that gives you full autonomy in your role then Daemon is the place for you. Being treated like an adult with no micro management has given the love of my job back. The effort that goes into ensuring everyone new fits in with our values ensures that it is a pleasure to interact with EVERYONE on a daily basis.”

Competitive benefits

Creating a working environment that is market-leading means we are mindful to offer a total reward package that helps our employees to thrive. Beyond facilitating meet-ups, lunches, and activities for our colleagues  to connect, we also offer competitive salaries that include:

  • Competitive pension contributions
  • Death in service insurance (4 x annual salary)

“Daemon is a fantastic company. The work is meaningful and you feel you have the authority to make significant decisions at any stage of your journey. The culture is fantastic, everyone is friendly and willing to help out. Daemon also employs a high calibre of people - you'd be hard-pressed to find another company with this mix of talent, niceness and purpose. You also feel like the founders and broader exec team legitimately care about you, and this has been shown time and time again.”

As positive as this is, we’re not perfect yet. We’re always looking for ways to improve how we work. We take pride in our culture, but we also know the value of consulting Daemonites and keeping an open mind about employee experience.

We love honest feedback, so we’ll always listen to what our team has to say. That’s part of what it means to be a Daemonite.
