Daemon Does Vegas - Proposed Agenda - Retail Track

Daemon loves the Retail sector and we’re very proud to play a key part in technology strategy and delivery with a number of our retail-based clients. We thought it would be helpful to put together a proposed agenda of useful sessions for our Retail-based friends attending AWS re:Invent this year.

AWS Re:Invent

Monday

We’ll start our AWS re:Invent week off at the MGM Grand with a couple of hands-on workshops followed by a chalk-talk in the afternoon.  We’re looking at how AWS technology can be utilised to help improve customer relations, prevent fraud and gather real-time customer insights:

AIM302 | Use generative AI to extract insights from contact center recordings (Workshop)
8:30 AM - 10:30 AM (PST) @ MGM Grand | Level 3 | Premier 316
Learn how to derive insights from contact center recordings and other media using Amazon Transcribe and generative AI.

NET308-R1 | Get hands-on with fraud prevention using AWS WAF (Workshop)
11:30 AM - 1:30 PM (PST) @ MGM Grand | Level 1 | Grand 111
In today’s competitive digital landscape, earning and keeping customer trust is key to gaining a competitive advantage. But how can you ensure that all login activity and accounts created on your site are from real users and not bots?

MKT307 | Deliver real-time insights with customer data platforms and AI/ML
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM (PST) @ MGM Grand | Level 1 | Boulevard 169
Discover how AWS and AWS Partner solutions help organizations deliver value from their customer data platforms (CDPs) through integrations with services in analytics and machine learning (ML).

Tuesday

We’ll begin Tuesday with the Keynote at the Venetian, which is always full of amazing stats, new ideas and huge announcements. After lunch, we’ll head back to the MGM Grand for a customer session on Machine Learning and a session on personalized customer experience with Generative AI.

Adam Selipsky Keynote
8.30am - 10.30am @ Venetian | Level 2 | Venetian Ballroom F
Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services, shares his perspective on cloud transformation. He highlights innovations in data, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence and machine learning that are helping AWS customers achieve their goals faster, mine untapped potential, and create a better future.

RET201 | Powerful machine learning data strategies from The Very Group
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (PST) @ MGM Grand | Level 3 | Chairmans 355
As a pure play digital retailer, The Very Group knows the value of its data. With one of the UK’s oldest, richest, and deepest consumer-focused datasets, they turn data and insights into actions—delighting customers and helping families get more out of life.

AIM225 | Drive personalized CX using generative AI and Amazon Personalize
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM (PST) @ MGM Grand | Level 1 | Grand 120
Delivering the best experience is critical to capture and retain customers today. With generative AI, it is possible to hyper-personalize targeted recommendations for shopping and streaming.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we have a couple of options for the morning session. A hands-on workshop on how Computer Vision can be utilized at the edge has some very interesting retail use-cases that we’re seeing out there in the world already. Alternatively, if a workshop is not your thing, a talk by Nintendo on the modernisation of their e-shop with Microservices is where I recommend you go. In the afternoon, it’s over to the Mandalay Bay for a session about supply chain transparency with AI/ML:

HYB303 | Deploying a low-latency computer vision application at the edge (Workshop)
Nov. 29 | 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM (PST) @ Caesars Forum | Level 1 | Summit 216
Computer vision (CV) automates visual inspection with machine learning (ML) for tasks like tracking assets to optimise supply chain logistics and detecting anomalies to improve product quality.

GAM306 | Modernization of Nintendo eShop: Microservice and platform engineering
Nov. 29 | 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (PST) @ Mandalay Bay | Level 2 | South | Oceanside D
Nintendo eShop is a web-based e-commerce service where you can browse and purchase digital software from Nintendo Switch and other Nintendo platforms. As the digital business continues to grow, it is essential for Nintendo Systems to modernise the service’s system to improve agility and go-to-market speed.

SUS203 | Accelerating end-to-end supply chain transparency with AI/ML
Nov. 29 | 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (PST) @ Mandalay Bay | Level 2 | South | Reef F
Organizations and consumers are demanding greater transparency and traceability within supply chains, while regulators are requesting that companies disclose more value chain data

Thursday

Thursday sessions start a little later than the other days, to allow for Werner’s keynote to take place, which is one not to miss.  Following that, we’ll head over to the Mandalay Bay venue to listen to a talk by Fetch on how they use ML to power their business.  We’ll wrap up the day with a talk on improving Software Engineering practices to reduce complexity and deliver software faster.

Finally, there’s only one way to wrap up AWS re:Invent week, which is at the AWS re:play party!

KEY005 | Dr. Werner Vogels Keynote
8:30 AM - 10:30 AM (PST) @ Venetian | Level 2 | Venetian Ballroom F
This keynote covers best practices for designing resilient and cost-aware architectures. Werner also discusses why artificial intelligence is something every builder must consider when developing systems and the impact this will have in our world.

SEG301 | How Fetch built world-class ML models to power their business
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM (PST) @ Mandalay Bay | Level 3 | South | South Seas F
Fetch, a leading shopping loyalty app, moved from buying ML models to building their own. In 18 months, they built eight models that scan, process, eliminate fraud, personalize, and forecast.

DOP323-S | How Lockheed Martin builds software faster, powered by DevSecOps
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM (PST) @ Caesars Forum | Level 1 | Summit 214
Hear how Lockheed Martin’s software engineering team streamlined their toolchain, reduced complexity, and cut costs to deliver software faster
