Why quality-led engineering won in 2025
You can’t build a movement by standing still, and you certainly can’t do it alone. 2025 wasn’t just another year. It was the year we dug deep, laid the heaviest foundations, and proved that when the tech landscape gets rocky, we do more than survive. We evolve.
We sat down with the people steering the Daemon ship, Jane (COO), Steve (CCO), Kyle (Chief of Growth), and Iain (CFO), to talk all things 2025.
Q: Everyone is shouting about AI. It’s noisy out there. How are we cutting through and adding value for our clients?
Kyle (Chief of Growth): There is a lot of snake oil in the market. A lot of people are generating endless AI stories but delivering zero value. We’ve spent 18 years building a reputation for technical excellence. AI for us isn’t a magic wand; it’s a force multiplier for that excellence.
We aren’t just talking about it; we’re doing it. And the world is noticing. Being recognised as the AWS Innovation Partner of the Year is proof. We were up against the giants, the Accentures and IBMs of the world, and we won. Why? Because quality beats quantity every single time.
Q: The market has been challenging. A lot of consultancies retreated. What did Daemon do differently?
Steve (CCO): We stayed in the trenches. We had a client this year tell us that we were brought in for the hardest project they’d ever faced, a project with every "anti-pattern" in the book. Other suppliers walked away. They couldn’t handle the heat.
Daemon? We didn't run. We buckled down, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the client, and delivered the impossible. That’s where trust is forged. It’s not about the easy wins; it’s about having the battle scars that prove you can handle the heavy lifting.
Kyle (Chief of Growth): Exactly. We aren't here to be a "vendor." We’re here to be the enabler. This year, we reconfigured our entire approach to be 100% client-centric. In a world of automation and commoditisation, being the humans who actually give a damn is the ultimate differentiator.
Q: Let’s talk about the heartbeat of Daemon. We talk a lot about "people-first." In 2025, how did we move that from a slogan to a reality?
Jane (COO): It’s simple. We stopped looking at offices as rows of desks a long time ago, but this year, we saw the Hubs truly come alive. Bristol, Basingstoke, Stratford, and the incredible momentum in South Africa, it’s not about mandating attendance. It’s about creating a gravity that pulls people in.
In Cape Town, the team didn’t just rent space; they’re trialling flexible offices to find their perfect home. In Jo’burg, our community champions are bolstering the Daemon spirit on the ground. When you give smart people the space to connect, the culture builds itself.
Steve (CCO): And that energy spills over to the work. We’re passing the torch faster than ever. We’ve got our new consultants breaking down walls and coming up with ideas that challenge the veterans. It’s not about seniority here; it’s about the quality. If you’ve got the fire, we give you the fuel.
Q: What actually matters for clients in 2026?
Kyle (Chief of Growth): AI isn’t a silver bullet; it’s a magnifying glass. It amplifies what’s already there—good engineering makes AI shine, weak foundations make noise. 2026 is about getting your house in order: standardising, institutionalising, and centralising what “good” looks like so AI and third‑party partners can plug into it consistently.
Steve (CCO): Exactly—and you don’t get there by accident. Like Cloud a few years back, you need a pragmatic maturity assessment so teams can walk before they try to run. That sequence avoids skipping steps that come back to bite delivery later.
Q: So, what is the vibe for 2026?
Iain: There is a tangible sense of excitement right now. Every day our teams are talking with technology leaders who are ready to tackle complex, high-stakes challenges.
In 2026, you’re going to see us working with clients that aren't just trying to update their IT, but are looking to fundamentally reshape how they operate in their industries. Challenges don’t scare us; they energise us. It brings a genuine buzz to the business. From the finance team to the engineers, everyone feeds off that cutting-edge energy.
Kyle (Chief of Growth): 2026 is about momentum. It’s about expertly configuring our teams to place our clients even more prominently at the heart of everything we touch. From the back-office engine to the front-line pulse, that relentless focus is our power. In a world surging with automation and the grind of commoditisation, the human element, being genuinely close to our clients, is the current that gives us an unstoppable advantage.
Steve (CCO): We have put in the hard yards. The foundations are deep. Now, we build.
